A Unified Maritime Information Picture for the AfOA-OI Region

Maritime challenges frequently extend across national boundaries. Vessels, cargo, people and maritime activities move between jurisdictions, making regional information sharing essential to effective maritime domain awareness.

At the regional level, RCOC provides a platform through which participating States exchange information and develop a broader understanding of activities occurring across the region.

The Centre consolidates information from national sources, identifies activities and trends of regional interest, and distributes relevant analytical products to authorised stakeholders.

A Unified Maritime Information Picture

No single State has complete visibility over the regional maritime environment. RCOC bridges this gap by correlating information from multiple countries and sources into a more comprehensive picture across national boundaries.

Regional Liaison Network

Liaison Officers facilitate communication, contribute relevant national information and support dissemination to competent national authorities, sustaining professional cooperation and information exchange.

Data Exchange Arrangements

Agreed frameworks establish common expectations concerning information flows, authorised users and cooperation between participating institutions.

Regional Coordination

RCOC’s information-fusion function complements wider coordination, including cooperation with the Regional Coordination Operations Centre in accordance with applicable arrangements.
