At the National Level
Systematic maritime information exchange through agreed procedures and institutional channels.
At the national level, RCOC works with relevant government ministries, agencies and maritime authorities to facilitate the systematic exchange of maritime information.
Participating States maintain their own national responsibilities and decision-making structures. RCOC complements these national systems by providing a regional mechanism through which relevant information can be exchanged, consolidated and analysed.
National authorities contribute information relating to activities within their maritime areas of responsibility. This information can then be incorporated into the wider maritime information picture maintained by the Centre.
The process strengthens communication between national authorities and RCOC while ensuring that information sharing takes place through agreed procedures and institutional channels.

Inter-Ministerial Approach
Maritime institutions contribute relevant information, reduce fragmentation and develop a more comprehensive understanding of maritime activity.
National Liaison Officers
Liaison Officers connect participating States with RCOC, support authorised transmission and route requests and products.
Permanent Staff Operations
Permanent staff process information, monitor developments, maintain communications and prepare products for authorised stakeholders.
Inter-Ministerial Approach
Maritime security involves institutions responsible for defence, maritime transport, fisheries, customs, immigration, law enforcement, environment and port management.
An inter-ministerial approach encourages these institutions to contribute relevant maritime information and promotes stronger coordination with RCOC.
National Liaison Officers
National Liaison Officers facilitate communication with relevant authorities, support the transmission of authorised information and ensure requests and products reach the appropriate institutions.
Permanent Staff Operations
RCOC’s permanent staff sustain day-to-day information management, monitoring and analytical activities, enabling continuity in maritime information fusion and situational awareness.
Supporting Maritime Domain Awareness
By connecting national information sources with a regional information-fusion capability, RCOC helps participating States benefit from information extending beyond their individual maritime jurisdictions.
The result is a stronger link between national maritime awareness and regional maritime domain awareness.
